India’s toy industry is gearing up to capitalize on a unique opportunity created by the United States’ steep tariffs on Chinese imports. With American buyers actively seeking alternative sourcing options, Indian manufacturers are positioning themselves to expand their footprint in the world’s largest toy market.

The Toy Association of India has identified 40 domestic firms with the potential to export to the US while meeting stringent compliance requirements. Currently, 20 Indian companies are already exporting toys in bulk to the American market. The association’s president, Ajay Aggarwal, highlighted the growing interest from US-based toy buyers, who are looking for manufacturers capable of producing high-quality products that adhere to American regulations.

The US toy market, valued at USD 42.8 billion in 2024, is projected to grow to USD 56.9 billion by 2032, driven by changing consumer preferences toward educational and interactive toys. Indian manufacturers stand to benefit from the current tariff dynamics, which favor countries with lower rates compared to China.

To further support this momentum, the Toy Association of India is planning a seminar to connect manufacturers ready to cater to the US market. The association believes that with government backing, India’s toy sector can significantly increase its export share, which currently accounts for less than 1 percent of global toy exports.

This development aligns with India’s broader efforts to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports. As the US-China tariff war reshapes global trade, Indian toy makers are poised to emerge as key players in the international market.
