A record 75+ Indian-origin candidates are contesting Canada's federal election on April 28, 2025, with Punjabis in the lead and four Gujarati-origin newcomers making history.

Jagmeet Singh (NDP): Leader seeking to retain Burnaby Central.

Sunjiv Raval (Liberal): Calgary Midnapore candidate championing middle-class reforms.

 

Kamal Khera (Liberal): Incumbent Minister in Brampton West.

 

Two-thirds of the group are candidates of Punjabi origin, including newcomers like Ashok Patel and Minesh Patel, who symbolize growing Gujarati political mobilization.
