Indian airlines carried 1.45 crore passengers in March, marking an 8.79 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The latest data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation highlights steady growth in domestic air travel, driven by improved connectivity and rising demand.
Key Highlights:
- IndiGo led the market with 93.1 lakh passengers, securing a 64 percent share.
- Air India Group, including Air India and Air India Express, transported 38.8 lakh passengers, holding a 26.7 percent market share.
- Akasa Air and SpiceJet flew 7.2 lakh and 4.8 lakh passengers, respectively, with market shares of 5 percent and 3.3 percent.
- IndiGo recorded the highest on-time performance at 88.1 percent, followed by Akasa Air at 86.9 percent.
- Air India Group and SpiceJet reported on-time performance rates of 82 percent and 72.1 percent, respectively.
