India is going through opposite weather patterns this week, with intense heat waves holding the north in their grip and rain lashing out relief to the south. Warnings for heatwaves as well as rainstorms have been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for different parts.
  • Heat Wave in North: Rajasthan is preparing for intense heat waves, with temperatures likely to reach 45-46°C in western parts. Delhi-NCR will experience a steady increase in temperatures, going up to 40-42°C by April 16, with heatwave conditions probable at scattered places.
  • Rain in South: South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka will witness heavy rain, which has been predicted for them. There will be light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and squally winds for the next five days.
  • East and Northeast India: Isolated to widespread rain with thunderstorms and squally winds are likely in East and Northeast India, including Assam and Meghalaya, which will receive heavy rain from April 14 to 16.
These extremes of weather show the varied climate conditions in India, where heat and rain affect different parts of the country at the same time.
