Veterinary infrastructure is being prioritized by the government to augment India's ₹14.2 lakh crore livestock economy, with an overhauled ₹3,880 crore Livestock Health Scheme (2024–26) focused on disease control and rural livelihood.

Mobile Veterinary Units: 3,013 MVUs operational nationwide, taking doorstep services to prevent livestock death.
 
Vaccine drives: FMD eradication by 2030 through 100% funded NADCP, besides Brucellosis control.
 
Affordable medicines: Pashu Aushadhi scheme makes low-cost generics available via PM-Kisan Kendras.
 
Infrastructure fund: ₹29,610 crore AHIDF extended up to 2026, accelerating dairy/meat processing and breed farms.
 
Impact: Productivity growth, reduction in losses for farmers, and 35 lakh jobs through sectoral enhancements.
