The Delhi government has finalized locations for 70 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, set to launch by the end of May, in a decisive step to strengthen the city’s primary healthcare network. Each assembly constituency will get one centre in the first phase, with work already in progress and site identification at the final stage in 10 to 15 constituencies.
Key Highlights:
-
The Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being established by upgrading existing Primary Health Centres, dispensaries, and mohalla clinics, ensuring sustainable and long-term infrastructure.
-
Backed by ₹2,400 crore in central funding under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), the project aims to eventually set up 1,139 such centres across Delhi.
-
These new facilities will provide general outpatient care, maternal and child health services, vaccinations, screening for non-communicable diseases, and Ayurvedic treatments.
The initiative is part of a broader MoU with the Centre, signed after the BJP’s return to power in Delhi, and aligns with the rollout of Ayushman Bharat health insurance and the Vaya Vandana Yojana for senior citizens.
District magistrates, with support from the MCD and DDA, have been directed to identify and submit suitable locations, ensuring accessibility for every constituency.
Over 1.75 lakh families have already enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with health card distribution for citizens aged 70+ beginning April 28.
This ambitious rollout marks a new era of accessible, comprehensive healthcare for Delhi’s residents.
