In a dominant display of cricket, the Gujarat Titans secured a comfortable 39-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders, defending a challenging total of 198/3 at the end of 20 overs. Despite a valiant effort from Ajinkya Rahane, who scored a fluent 50 off 36 balls, KKR could only manage 159/8 in their chase.
The Titans’ bowling unit executed a clinical performance with Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna each grabbing two wickets at an economical rate of 6.25. Washington Sundar struggled with the ball, leaking 36 runs in his 3 overs, while Mohammed Siraj provided an early breakthrough, dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
KKR’s chase never really gained momentum as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi shone bright with a brisk 27 off 13, but the required run rate proved too steep.
Earlier, Gujarat’s strong batting effort set the tone, and their disciplined bowling sealed the win. With this victory, Gujarat continues to assert dominance in the tournament, while KKR will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention for playoff qualification.
