The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) conducted its highly anticipated examination for Class 1 and Class 2 posts on Sunday, across 21 districts of the state. This year, the competition was fierce, with 97,000 aspirants vying for just 245 government positions.
Key Highlights:
- The examination was held at 405 centers in major cities, including Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Jamnagar.
- Rajkot alone hosted 32 centers, accommodating approximately 7,000 candidates.
- Jamnagar had 11 centers, covering 110 exam blocks and hosting 2,629 candidates.
- Strict surveillance measures were implemented, including high-resolution CCTV cameras at all centers.
- Local police forces ensured law and order, while teams led by Class 1 GPSC officials supervised the process.
- The preliminary exam, a screening test of 200 marks, serves as the first stage in the recruitment process.
The GPSC exams are among the most competitive in Gujarat, offering aspirants a chance to secure high-ranking positions such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mamlatdar, and Section Officer. This year’s vacancies include 48 Class 1 posts and 197 Class 2 posts, distributed across departments like General Administration, Home, Revenue, and Panchayat services.
