Final Opportunity: LG Phone Users Advised to Update Devices Before Support Ends

LG smartphone users have only two months to apply any outstanding updates since the company will permanently discontinue its Android update servers on June 30, 2025. Once this date has passed, all official software, security, and app updates for LG devices will end, and major support tools such as the Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) service, Update Center app, and LG Bridge PC software will go offline.

LG's departure from the smartphone industry in 2021 was accompanied by a three-year support commitment, one last Android OS update, and regular security patches. That grace period has now been extended somewhat, but the time is finally up. If you continue to use an LG device, it's essential to look for and install any available updates and back up your data via LG Bridge prior to the June 30 deadline. Subsequently, you won't be able to get updates or restore deleted default apps, and the devices will be frozen on the last version installed.

Although your LG phone will remain functional, it won't be getting vital security updates or feature additions, hence making it more and more susceptible in the long run. LG users are, with the shutdown, urged to upgrade to other Android brands like Samsung, OnePlus, or Google for continued support and updates.
