Dubai International Airport (DXB) started the year 2025 with a record-breaking performance, hosting 23.4 million passengers during the first quarter of the year. This is an 8.4% rise from the same quarter a year ago, making DXB the world's busiest international airport and a powerhouse for global aviation and tourism.
January set the pace with a remarkable 7.9 million travelers, driven by Dubai’s enduring appeal as a destination for business, leisure, and major global events. The city’s thriving tourism sector, new attractions, and world-class hospitality have drawn visitors from across the globe, while expanded airline connectivity through Emirates and flydubai continues to boost traffic.
India is DXB's leading destination, followed by Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Pakistan, with London, Riyadh, and Mumbai among the busiest city routes. The airport serviced more than 109,000 flight movements during Q1, indicating healthy demand and operational excellence. DXB's streamlined baggage facilities processed 26.8 million bags, making it a seamless experience for all travelers.
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths also pointed to the hub's function as a principal economic driver, underpinning the city's 3.3% GDP growth and further establishing Dubai as a global business and logistics hub. With ongoing momentum, DXB is set to break earlier annual traffic records, and development plans for future expansion are already in motion.
