DGCA Calls on Airlines to Cancel Fees During Rush of Tourist Evacuations Following Kashmir Attack

India's civil aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), issued an advisory on Saturday asking airlines to waive the cancellation and rescheduling charges for travelers who wish to return after the terrorist strike in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The strike has generated unexpected demand for flights, so airlines have acted quickly to provide relief to passengers affected.

 

✅ Fee Waivers: There have been calls for airlines to waive cancelation and rescheduling fees to provide financial support to tourists.

✅ Additional Flights: Air India and IndiGo have made special flights available from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai, with others waiting in the wings to meet evacuation requirements.

✅ Government Intervention: Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu conducted an emergency meeting with airline operators and gave a strong advisory against surge pricing.

✅ Passenger Assistance: IndiGo and Air India Express are providing full refunds and free rescheduling to affected passengers.

✅ Coordination Activities: The Ministry is coordinating with state governments and local authorities to facilitate the safe transportation of tourists and the deceased.
