Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has released a public notice, alerting travelers about potential disruptions to flight operations between 26 April and 4 May due to predicted easterly winds. According to the notice, the India Meteorological Department expects changes in the wind direction, which can impact operations at the airport, including arrivals and departures.
The airport has asked that travelers check with their individual airlines on developments regarding their flights and plan accordingly. DIAL, the airport operator, stated that the wind conditions combined with runway work underway would impose a temporary limit to operations, especially for arrivals. Airlines have taken note and have been reminded to adjust schedules and inform travelers of any updates.
The advisory was issued on the backdrop of a rising level of congestion and operational impact at IGI Airport during a time period that has seen runway closures and terminal changes. DIAL and Air Traffic Control continue to work closely together to minimize impact and are managing as much as possible to ensure that the safety of travelers remains a priority.
Travelers have been encouraged to monitor official airport sources and keep in touch with their airlines for up to date information.
