India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has issued a stern warning after the horrific terror attack at Pahalgam, Kashmir, that killed at least 26 tourists and injured a few more. Singh reassured the country that there would be a "loud and clear response" to the perpetrators, reiterating India's zero-tolerance for terrorism. "We will not only touch the hands of the culprits of this act but also the hands of the backstage actors. The accused will soon realize a deafening and clear reaction," Singh stated, voicing the nation's grief and rage.

Following the attack, senior military commanders, including the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, met with the Defence Minister to discuss the security situation. Security personnel have stepped up search and destroy operations in the valley, sending more troops and conducting a combined search operation in the disturbed areas. The government is also re-deploying security forces in preparation for the Amarnath Yatra to be held soon in order to ensure that no such incident occurs again.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have condemned the attack, assuring speedy justice and greater security for civilians and tourists. Pakistan has denied any involvement, but Indian authorities are not convinced as initial investigations indicate foreign militants were involved.

The attack, the most fatal on tourists in Kashmir since 2000, has brought political leaders and the public together in demands for strong action, with experts cautioning against possible retaliatory actions in the coming days.
