In a rare green achievement, the remote Gram Panchayat Paudiya of Chopal, Himachal Pradesh, has constructed two plastic waste parks within six months, setting a unique state record. The two parks, such as the Swami Vivekananda Panchvati Plastic Waste Park, have been set up on recyclable products like used tyres and plastic waste, recycling six quintals of plastic in the process.
The parks not only beautify the place but also promote sustainability and good plastic waste management. The authorities hailed the project as a testament to local involvement, awareness, and environmental responsibility. The parks are now a public resource that attracts locals, children, and tourists alike and testifies to the possibility of transforming waste into effective, lovely public space.
The success of Chopal highlights the importance of public participation in removing plastic pollution and provides a framework for other parts of the region aiming for sustainable development.
