In a major cost-saving drive, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up its own self-run fuel station and garage near the Temporary Transit Station. With over 500 vehicles in its fleet that require daily refueling and maintenance, BMC aims to reduce its ₹2 crore monthly fuel bill and reduce reliance on private fuel stations. The complex will also sell petrol and diesel, and even be opened to the public for use, generating extra revenue. Mayor Sulochana Das said most corporators favor the proposal, which also includes an in-house garage operated by ITI-trained mechanics to inspect rising repair bills.
