The Indian women's hockey team is ready to light up the grass in Perth as they begin an important five-match series in Australia from April 26 to May 4. Following a hard month-long national camp in Bengaluru, the team-led by energetic captain Salima Tete and vice-captain Navneet Kaur-will initially clash with Australia A on April 26 and 27, before meeting the strong world No. 5 Hockeyroos in three high-pressure games on May 1, 3, and 4.
Fresh from an intense FIH Pro League season, where India pushed world No. 1 Netherlands to a thrilling 2-2 draw and earned a bonus point in the shootout, the team is full of confidence. Emerging stars such as drag-flicker Deepika and defender Udita Singh are poised to deliver their best, while experienced goalkeeper Savita-who had just achieved 300 international caps-reliably holds the fort at the back. The team also includes five debutants who are keen to leave their mark on the world stage.
With the past being in Australia's favor, but recent performances swaying the equation, this series is set to be an exhilarating battle of wills and ability as India readies itself for the European leg of the Pro League.
