All Aboard! Pune Metro’s New Route Speeds Through Pimpri-Chinchwad

The Pune Metro has moved a crucial step ahead with the start of work on the PCMC to Bhakti-Shakti line. This extension will strengthen connectivity between the important residential, industrial, and commercial areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad, envisaging a game-changing effect on the transportation system in the area.
 
Project Overview
The PCMC–Bhakti-Shakti section will include 151 piers and 1,337 segments, and 517 segments have already been cast.
 
Construction on laying 12 segments between piers 453 and 454 started, with 4 segments already laid.
 
Stations and Connectivity
Chinchwad Station: Offers connectivity to residential areas, industrial centers, religious places, and the Indian Railways network.
 
Akurdi Station: Offers connectivity to educational institutions, neighborhoods, and industrial areas.
 
Nigdi and Bhakti-Shakti Stations: Enhance connectivity to entertainment areas, religious sites, and intercity bus stations, connecting suburban localities such as Dehu, Chikhali, Talegaon, and Vadgaon.
 
Impact on Commuters
The expansion is set to increase Pune Metro's ridership, which currently carries more than 1.6 lakh passengers a day.
 
Increased connectivity will bring relief to traffic jams and help create a greener urban travel experience.
