Adani Green Energy Secures Landmark Energy Storage Deal with UPPCL

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a stalwart in India's renewable energy industry, has marked a major milestone with the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between it and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The PPA entails the construction of a 1,250 MW energy storage capacity based on Pumped Hydro Storage Projects (PSP). The project, to be known as Panaura PSP, will be situated in the Sonbhadra district of the state of Uttar Pradesh and will be ready in six years' time.

- The initiative is consistent with India's clean energy target and seeks to deploy renewable power in the grid with round-the-clock power solutions.
- Panaura PSP involves a 40-year minimum commitment, promising sustained energy stability and sustainability.

- Cost-effective and scalable hydro PSP technology will use solar-generated electrons during the day to pump water, fulfilling peak energy requirements at night.
