In a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has declared a compensation package of Rs 50 lakh and a government job for the family of Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal. The declaration was made in the aftermath of the untimely death of Lt. Narwal, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.

Lt. Vinay Narwal, a 26-year-old Karnal resident of Haryana, was newly wedded and on his honeymoon when the attack took place. His untimely death left the country grieving the loss of a courageous and dedicated officer. The Chief Minister's declaration is an attempt to bring financial security and emotional solace to the bereaved family during these trying times.

The compensation package comprises a cash grant of Rs 50 lakh to the family and a government job for one of the family members, based on the choice of Lt. Narwal's parents. This step shows the government's dedication to rewarding the sacrifices of those who work for the country and providing for the well-being of their families.

The Chief Minister vehemently denounced the act of terrorism as cowardly and emphasized that stringent steps needed to be taken to check such threats. He also extended his condolences to the family and promised them all support from the government.
